12 new mobile games that will rip you off from the Pokemon Go

Puzzles, platformers, quests and more

IT’S NO SECRET THAT THE MAIN MOBILE GAME TODAY IS POKEMON GO. However, the release of one loud game does not mean that the market is frozen and it has nothing else to offer. Over the past couple of years, there have been many mobile games that will make you stick to the screen as hard as catching Pok√©mon. Here are twelve great games to take on if you’re tired of Pokemon Go.

_PRISM

The developer and master Clint Sue invented and made the PRISM alone, and she immediately became the new favorite entertainment of the indie community. The main thing is not to confuse it with the Prisma application – they have nothing in common. The _PRISM is an elegant three-dimensional puzzle game that resembles a Rubik’s cube. The levels here are built like a micro galaxy, each one a separate planet. The player is given some input data: a three-dimensional figure with dots on planes, with which it is necessary to combine the second, already flat figure. It is easier to see once than to describe it, just believe that of all the puzzles, this one is undoubtedly worth the time spent.

The Westport Independent

The Westport Independent is a literally noir style game about censorship. It works as follows: the player finds himself in the position of newspaper editor in the postwar period. Because of the situation, he needs to change the lyrics all the time, depending on whether he chooses the rebels or the current government. The course of the game is influenced by each decision to publish an article about one of the parties to the conflict or not, and if so, in what form. This story allows us to take the place of a person who swore to broadcast an independent view of the world, but faced the inevitable realities of journalism.

Her Story

A detective game unlike any other. The player has to act as an investigator: in front of him dozens of clips from the same woman’s interrogation. Everything looks as if in front of you a computer with Windows 98, and it is done on purpose: the video is even intentionally several times re-recorded from one VHS-cassette to another to get the appropriate effect. To solve the crime, the player will have to make a complete picture of what happened. Her Story was invented by Sam Barlow, the author of British Silent Hill, and if there is anything here from his previous works, it is not leaving a nervous tension. So start digging into the interview with Hannah Smith, the wife of the missing person, to see if there was a murder and if she was to blame.

Circa Infinity

A game that, as the developers themselves say, will melt your brain. Don’t you believe it? Look at the trailer – you have never met such a platforming agent before. The levels in Circa Infinity look like concentric circles – each new one grows from the center of the screen. By controlling a character (sometimes two), you have to avoid numerous obstacles, mostly in the form of demons, and find out how to get to the next level. It looks like a pixel-like model of hell’s circles, hypnotizing the player with constantly divergent circles. In general, an obligatory point of the program for the lover of mobile games, approved by PewDiePie.

The Room Three

The third part of the award-winning The Room series. They all share a common goal: to solve puzzle levels that include the need to open mysterious drawers and get out of locked rooms. Sounds simpler than it really is: the levels themselves are real Pandora’s boxes, which are very, very difficult to crack. By opening each of them, the player unravels the chilling story of a man who has already solved all these mysterious jigsaw puzzles once, making him crazy. In general, play at your own risk.

Prune

Another favorite of festivals and critics, Prune is, in the words of the developers, an ode to love trees. The game was invented by a man who was very tired of shooters he worked with all the time. Prune is very similar to Japanese engravings in both appearance and mood: in fact, all that a player sees each time is one single cherry tree. As if it were a tamagotchi, it’s a tree that needs to be nurtured and nurtured all the time, helped to grow and strengthen. At first, it’s about cutting branches – hence the name – and then, logically, the tree will only grow harder and harder because of different obstacles. But when it blossoms, there is no limit to happiness.

Progress to 100

Progress to 100 – as a half of the game “Truth or Action” we all know: here you have to do different things all the time, as if to argue. Swapping the screen, laughing, tickling it or stealing your nose – there are many options. Progress to 100 looks minimalistic and promises exactly what is stated in the title – to chase the player to a hundredth level. Only the most determined ones will reach it. Just like Pokemon Go, Progress to 100 is a very social game, it is ideal for a party. You can take turns passing the levels or show your skills to your friends – go through the game from start to finish.

Lara Croft Go

The Lara Croft Go is not related to the Pokemon Go, but is linked to another Hitman Go mobile hit. The latter came out a couple of years ago as a kind of companion game to the main game Hitman. The mobile version was like a board game, where the main character had to move along rigidly defined lines. The game with Lara Croft is built on the same principle: each level – a puzzle with moves as in the table, and you need to pass it as well. Incredibly beautiful, though short, Lara Croft Go is another luck in the updated franchise.

Hocus.

Another puzzle in this list, which will drive you crazy with its crazy physics. Elegant, drawn levels in hocus. look like Mobius’ ribbon and represent impossible figures, i.e. optical illusions pretending to be flat objects. Look at this triangle and you will understand what we mean. In fact, the shapes in hocus. are voluminous, and you need to roll the cube over their planes to bring it to the end point.

Telepaint

There are no many platformers-that’s the tacit rule, not even mobile, but just games. As always, there is something to choose from: here is the story about a jet cat, which is not so easy to catch, here is about a tiny astronaut looking for love, and Telepaint – about a nice bucket of paint. The game resembles a puzzle based on Portal motives, only here you have to move through the levels with the help of paint portals. And yes, again, you have to play for a very nice bucket. With paint.

Peter Panic

The last couple of months in the West, the main sensation was “Hamilton” – a Broadway production about one of the founding fathers of the United States. The performance made such a strong impression on the public and critics that we may well expect a second coming of musicals in mass culture. At least such a game is already there. Peter Panic is a new creation of Adult Swim TV channel, and, as it is surprising for a mobile game, everyone sings in it: “It’s a musical for a mobile phone. The main character of Peter is a young director who wants to open a theatre in a small town. To move forward on the plot, the player must perform mini-games and love musicals, because they are all equipped with numbers performed by real actors from Broadway.

Toca Blocks

In general, Toca Blocks is a nominally children’s game, but it is made so cool that adults will like it. It was invented by the Swedish studio Toca Boca, specializing in applications for younger people. The developer already has a couple of dozens of titles in the service record, and Toca Blocks continues the line of games with the prefix “Toca”. Blocks is something like “Meinkraft” on a tablet, but much more rainbow. In the world of the game there are not too many restrictions, so you can create 2D-structures, guided only by your imagination, using different blocks to build (or dig up) a whole new world.
